WARNING: MAY CONTAIN SOME VIOLENCE.

Characters:

  • Susan (Mother)
  • Amelia (Daughter/Sister)
  • Lydia (Sister/Daughter)
  • Laurel (Sister/Daughter
Setting:

Begins in the Dining Room and eventually moves through the kitchen into the Family Room of the Theobald home.

Scene 1

Curtains open. Amelia and Lydia are sitting at the dining room table doing their homework.

Amelia: GAH!!! I hate this!! (Slams down pencil and dramatically rests head in hands. Lydia continues to sit there reading, taking no notice of Amelia's distressing situation. Suddenly, Amelia gets an idea.)
Amelia (to herself): I think I will text my elder sister, Laurel, a random exclamation, just to see what she does!! (Amelia proceeds to text Where are you?! to her sister. Giggles come from Amelia as she contemplates what her sister's reply will be. Giggles turn into random bursts of laughter which becomes uncontrollable laughter.)
Enter Susan
Susan: What is going on?
Lydia: It's her friends.
Amelia: No! No... (laughter continues and Susan takes her phone to look at what is so hilarious.)
Amelia: Look! (she shows Susan what she is laughing about but is interrupted by a text from Laurel saying, "...did you text the right person? DID MOTHER FORGET ABOUT YOU?!")
Susan: What?
(for the next five minutes Amelia is trying to explain that she felt like texting Laurel just to get a reaction and that Laurel now thinks Susan forgot about Amelia but then Laurel texted Susan to see why she forgot Amelia and it turned into a mess because Laurel was dragging Susan into it so NATURALLY Amelia had to protect her entertainment and needed to take Susan's phone from her. The following occurrence takes place.)
Amelia: Ahhhh! Gah!! Uhhh!!! (Amelia tries to grab Susan's phone, but to no avail because Susan is too quick even though she is quite over come by Amelia's sudden grabbing. Susan begins to laugh and the battle begins.)

(Amelia is trying to obtain her mother's phone so that she can text Laurel from it and tell her that "Susan" really did forget Amelia, but her mother will not have that and once Amelia got a hold of her phone for 2 seconds she immediately got it back, then running into the kitchen, leaving Amelia lying on the floor, defeated. But Amelia will not give up so easily. She begins to get up (very disgruntled looking) but as she grasps the counter top, she slips and crumbles to the ground again.)
Susan (laughing): Wait! Wait! (pulls out phone and tried to take a picture. Amelia gets up and runs at Susan to try to confiscate her phone.)
(Both laughing)
(Both are struggling to fulfill their goal. Susan to keep possession of her phone, Amelia to gain possession of Susan's goal. Susan is the superior fighter so Amelia is not doing so well. When Amelia thinks to give up she has a sudden spark of idea.)
Amelia (to herself): I'll bring her down to the ground!! (Amelia proceeds to wrap her leg around her mother's and uses her weight to move them. They end up on a chair and struggles continue. Eventually both end up on the floor, Amelia having Susan pinned to the ground, holding her arms but unable to get her phone because Amelia has two hands that are holding Susan's two arms....Amelia needs another arm.)
Amelia: Lydia!! I need your help! (yelled into the other room. Susan scoffs and looks shocked.)
Susan: Hey, you are not going to win. Look at who has 7 brothers and a husband. You think you're stronger than me?
Amelia: By the time this is over I will be! HA! (They lovingly glare at each other for 15 seconds.)
Susan: ROAR! (Susan yells in Amelia's face, a foot away, and Amelia is SO frightened she shrinks away from her mother. Susan get up and laughs.)
Susan: I knew that would do it. I've deflated you! (Amelia is sitting on the Family Room floor, defeated.)
Amelia: *sigh* I suppose so. (She sits on the floor for another 3 minutes.)
Amelia: When was the last time you laughed that hard?
Susan: It's been a LONG time.

Curtains close.
