Post Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is over now and everyone's attention will switch to Christmas. It's kind of sad how overshadowed Thanksgiving has become by the Christmas excitement. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving nevertheless. Family, beautiful food, delicious food, giggles, and then games!! It was a fun day. I had more on my plate than ever before this Thanksgiving....must mean my taste buds are growing up. I've usually just had a small piece of turkey, a small pile of sweet potatoes, a little bit of stuffing then like 10 rolls over the course of the night, but yesterday was different. I was full after the first serving!! NOT GOOD! I couldn't stuff anything else in!
My favorite part of Thanksgiving was making the apple pie. It looked beautiful! Sorry I don't have a picture. Someone cut it before we got the camera out. It had the criss-crossing dough on top and apparently it was simply splendid. I never tried it...I was too full. :(
Yesterday I didn't really get the chance to say what I'm grateful for so I think I'll do that now.
  1. Warm water
  2. loving, caring parents who tease me (they do actually do things I don't like because "they love me"....I appreciate it later.)
  3. happy, funny, loving sisters (if I had brothers I would be grateful for them too.)
  4. a refrigerator
  5. a warm, comfortable bed
  6. my friends :)
  7. cameras (the best way to remember good times)
  8. cute, adorable, squishy, happy, friendly babies! (There were a few last night and my heart just melted)
  9. toothpaste and toothbrushes
  10. scissors
  11. JOSH GROBAN
  12. GOOD books
  13. nail polish
  14. homemade food
  15. hard work
  16. the ability to grow
  17. school and the easy opportunity to learn. "Don't let your schooling get in the way of your education" - Mark Twain (I think he said that and I think that's how the quote goes....It's a great one.)

Many steps forward, no steps back.

Tonight I kind of went crazy.  After a day on campus doing engineering homework and then Spanish homework I was tired.  I came home and tried to do more homework, but alas, I failed utterly as illustrated by my body strewn across my bed having no movement; I was tired.  My roommate came in and told me about FHE, but I told her I wasn't going to come tonight.  No energy. I got up a few minutes later because I shouldn't be sleeping at 7 pm.  So I got up and realized how hungry I was!  That may have been part of the reason I had no energy....  So I ate a bagel with some delicious cream cheese.  Mmmmm. :) Side note* I'm trying dairy again because maybe that is the problem I'm having with my back, maybe it's not.  So I'm going back and forth for now.  2 weeks without dairy, 2 weeks with dairy, 2 weeks without....and then we'll see how much of a difference it makes.  I'm eating my bagel and two of my other roommates are going off to...

Happy Thanksgiving!

So, thanksgiving was pretty good....wonderful food, wonderful company, wonderful desserts! I got to see my brand new cousin, born only 9 days ago. That was spectacular! Babies are....magnificent. Finals are in two weeks and I'm not ready. I'm scared out of my mind. Which is strange because recently I've been sort of...happy go lucky.....and now I'm coming out of that and realizing that being that way is not very good because it creates a false security of life being completely good and worry free, which it's not. Life is good. Don't get me wrong. But it's not completely worry free. Without worries, I wouldn't get anything done. I've gotten a minimal amount done up to this point and now I feel like I'm swimming in chin high water and I'm only going deeper. Needless to say, I'll be buckling down these next couple of weeks. - no social life Amelia!! Okay? Okay!!! Two weeks out of my life....eh....no biggie. I'll be grate...

Mercy, Justice, and Unmerited Grace

Last night some of my family members and I sat down to watch the movie, "Just Mercy."  It follows the story of a young lawyer, newly graduated from Harvard.  As an African American raised in the north, he goes to the south and meets a new kind of opposition to his work of representing prisoners on death row.  This young lawyer takes on an African American client accused of murdering a 19 year old white girl some years earlier.  Throughout his investigation he find unmistakable evidence of his client's innocence and uses the justice system as it was created to give the accused man a fair trial.  Yet, he is faced with overwhelming opposition from the white community -- police, judges, and residents alike. Despite that, this young lawyer fights the fear and racism he and his client and the African American community face.  To this day he and his team have saved over 140 people from death row.
