Reminicing about the past while shopping for the future

Today Mother, Lydia, Georgia, Ruby and I went shopping at Ikea, Payless Shoe Source, and Wal-mart. I got some kitchen supplies to back up my other kitchen supplies I got two days ago at Target. In all I bought: an electric hand mixer, a 30 piece set of kitchen utensils which includes a pizza cutter, an egg slicer, a can opener, mixing spoons, chip bag clips, measuring cups, teaspoons and tablespoons, some rubber spatulas, some pancake flippers, and then more! And it was less than 30 dollars so I was pretty happy about that. I also got some wooden spoons and an ice cream scoop because that is an ESSENTIAL to college life. :) Then today at Ikea I got 3 plates which can be used for eating or serving food, a cutting board, some glass cups, some porcelain cups, dish rags, a rolling pin, some bowls that can also be used for eating/serving, and then some tupperware and silverware. I also got some new sheets which I'm going to use under my current comforter in my room. I'm going to take my hot pink and orange curtains and hang them up along the tack strip in my dorm. That way I won't have white walls!!! That is one of my biggest fears for college. WHITE WALLS.....duh duh duh...... AHHH! But with my curtains, FEAR WILL CEASE! HA! I'm excited to get my dorm colored. :)
So with this shopping we got done today (I didn't get anything at Payless or Wal-mart) we saw lots of shopping buddies. Shopping buddies are the people you keep seeing in the store because they're taking practically the same route as you and taking about the same amount of time. Lots of our shopping buddies today were families with babies and little girls and boys. These little children got me thinking about how fun it was shopping with my Mommy when Laurel, Lydia and I were little kids.
First of all, I was smiling at all the babies that passed by and they smiled back!! My mom asked if I was on a baby streak and I said, "Well, I want one, but I don't WANT one, you know?" Meaning I just want one to play with, not one to actually take care of. I do love babies very much though. I don't think I'll be WANTing one for a while....haha.
Second of all, when we were at Wal-mart, we saw a family of 3 little girls and their mother shopping around. Our first encounter with them was seeing the 2nd oldest come up behind the oldest and wrap her arms around her sister, and pick her up. Struggling ensued and grunts accompanied the struggles. She then set her older sister down and they were laughing. It took me back to when Laurel and I would mess around with each other, but simply have fun like little children do. Lydia saw the transaction as well and we were laughing about it. Then, when Mom was in the check out line the four of us (me, Lydia, Georgia, and Ruby) were sitting on a bench which happened to be directly in line with the check out line our shopping buddies were in. There was a family in front of them with a pregnant mother, a father, and a little boy and girl. The little boy, once the chips they were buying had been scanned, opened them up and started eating them. The little girls behind him in line saw and when I looked over they were all sharing the bag of chips. The moment was very adorable. None of these kids are over 7, I don't think. Then when the family with the little boy left, the family with the three little girls were checking out and Lydia and I decided those three little girls were the three big girls in my family, Laurel, myself, and Lydia. The youngest was acting in a way that Lydia would, surprisingly. She was just wandering around, on her own schedule, not really taking notice of what was going on around her. The older two were all over each other, and messing around. Playful hitting, laughing, little sneers, just simply messing around! We were laughing at them and how similar they seemed to our little girl personalities and they took notice of us. The oldest was staring us down suspiciously. It only made us laugh harder. :)
In the check out line next to them, the one our mother was in, there was a little baby girl and a little boy where liked to look at Lydia when she made faces at them. At one point it seemed like the mom saw us staring down her kids and we both guiltily looked away. "I don't like it when the parents see me smiling at their child....." I said. Lydia replied,"Yeah, let me just stare them down."
All in all, it was a fun day and this is an historical day because.......this is the first post from my new laptop!!! I got it on Tuesday and am IN LOVE!!!! It's probably 4th or 5th on my list of people/things I love.
Within the next few weeks I'm going to be finishing up my jobs of teaching and working at Retina Associates of Utah as well as clearing out my junk and getting ready to live in Provo while I attend BYU. I dearly hope everything will go well. :)
OH!! And I get my braces off on August 20th! I like the orthodontist. He's such a nice person.
