College is coming through my door
I moved down to Provo where I will be attending BYU. It's small and I have yet to figure out how to get ready and not look like a mess when I'm finished. I don't think my straightener likes the change of scenery. I've found it's not as effective here, which is weird because the outlets work just fine. Maybe it's just the way I'm using it because I'm not liking the change of scenery....

This is my entire half of the room. The other side is the exact same.

These are my frog friends. They make me happy.

These are a few pictures of my dorm room. It's small, but cozy. A funny story about my curtains: I had them hanging over the shelf and tucked between the wall and my bed, but Wednesday night (the first night sleeping here) I was moving around a lot and ended up pulling the curtains forward a little and one of the picture frames fell on me. The corner hit the corner of my eye. Thankfully I wasn't too injured, but I quickly took everything off and set it on my desk and gobbled the curtains up and set them up out of the way until the next morning when I folded them and put the objects back on top of them. They aren't hanging where I can accidentally pull on them anymore. :D

So that is where I live. There are 6 girls in my apartment and we get to share a small bathroom with two showers and two sinks, and one toilet. We've only been here a about 2 days and it's worked so far, but this week is orientation so when classes actual start and everyone gets their schedules working we'll see what happens.
All the girls are pretty great and I don't think there will be many problems. People definitely have their own personalities though...haha.
Orientation has been....grueling. Some may laugh at me for thinking that, but I probably walked 10 miles or more yesterday. My feet were killing me and I hurt my knee. But thankfully today we didn't walk as much. And more of it was inside. We took a tour of campus yesterday and....whew. Hopefully I'll get in shape with all the walking I'm going to be doing. If I don't.....*fist shake*
This feels like EFY (a church camp most often attended at BYU) on steroids as there are "Y groups" that you have to stick with, there are those cheesy getting to know you games that I really, quite frankly, don't like. It is good to get the information I'm getting though. And the group leaders are really nice. I like my "peer mentor" for the new program called, "Freshman Mentoring." It's a way for all the freshmen to know what is going on, how to learn the campus, have classes together so they know someone in a few classes, and study groups can be set up with those in your freshman mentoring group. I really can't wait for classes to start. That will be nice. There have been a few devotionals that have been fabulous and made me excited for the weekly devotionals during the school year. It will be a good uplifting experience throughout the week.
I really miss everyone. I sometimes start thinking that I'm just here for a week, like I'm at EFY and next week I'll be going home.....but that's not going to happen. Although, my dear roommate, Morgan, offered me a ride to and from Provo on Labor day weekend so I'll be in Salt Lake the first weekend in September!!!
And with that I think I will end. Wish me luck, pray for me, and hope that I don't die or give up.

I wondered how the curtains around the bed would work. They still look adorable! And I'm glad you didn't sustain worse damage. ;) You'll figure everything out. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. . . Love you!
