Marriage is worse than dying
Now, before you overreact. Stop. Read.
My roommate came home from her cousin's wedding the other day and said that the get together was....well, it was okay. She said that it was kind of sad when the bishop said, "until death do you part." Sadness penetrated the apartment in a way.
Then I said, "Funerals in the church are happier than marriage outside of the church." Emily and Morgan looked at me, then started laughing. We all slightly agreed this was indeed the case, but for the most part it was a joke.
When someone dies and those that have surrounded that loved one are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, there is an understanding that the deceased will be seen again, lives on, and can be a comfort to those still alive. We can rejoice that they have lived a good life (hopefully) and will be seen again!
When someone outside of the church gets married, we know they will not have the blessings or joys of a temple marriage, including their partnership living on after they die. It is saddening that the joy they feel will not last.
