Okie dokie

Ready for a laugh?  And not a "Haha, nice try Amelia," but rather a "Haha, I can't believe you did it again..."

I changed my major to Civil Engineering.

Hum-deedle-dum.

I am now whistling and looking off at the very intriguing corner of the ceiling as you stare at me with a look of, "What on earth are you thinking??"

As I look back at you I innocently shrug my shoulders and with a shy, knowing smile ask, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Well, let me explain to you why you shouldn't be looking at me like that.

  1. I hate history.
  2. I really don't like history.
  3. History and I don't really get along.
  4. After taking three history classes, I've decided I don't want to pursue history.
  5. While history is great for some people, it's not for me.
  6. History is more about indefinite ideas in which there is ALWAYS an unknown and you have to decide what is most important to focus on, thus throwing out other information.
  7.  #6 = NOT OKAY FOR ME.
  8. Civil Engineering works with people, which has always been near the top of my possible career list.
  9. There is still a lot of variance and unknown, but your end product is the best combination of factors, and you know it's a good combination because it works.
  10. My work would be tangible, in a sense.
  11. I will learn so much about how this world works - the workings of our world!  (Physics, Chemistry, and Math are all part of this major.  I'll be graduating with a Math minor.)
  12. I admit I'm a very indecisive person a lot of the time, and that is a big part of why I'm finally deciding. But at the same time, at least I know myself a little better now and what I want.
  13. I enjoy planning, creating, building, making, and understanding structures and how to make things more efficient.
  14. I like to solve problems.
You shouldn't be looking at me like that anymore.   I feel good about this.  I feel calm - maybe the calm before the storm, but I'm going to push through this.  Yeah, it will be hard, and I said that about Family History, but the difference between that hard and this hard:  I didn't have much of a desire to learn the hard Family History stuff.  I do have a desire to learn the hard engineering stuff.

Okay, goooood.  You've wiped that look off your face.

Right?
