My Daddy

without him I'd be lost.
Funny, smart, and talented -

I found this quote a while ago and the moment I read it I thought of my daddy.  I discovered it shortly after my Mom had relayed to me something my dad said about me.  His few words filled me with confidence and love.  After that I found this quote and it so perfectly voiced the feelings I have about my dad.

The poem was written when I was 12 (I thought I was younger, but it says 2005....) and I gave it to him either for his birthday or for father's day.  I'm so glad I've got a copy of it so I can look back and realize that I've always felt this way about my daddy.

I teach piano to two little girls in my ward. Today was the weekly lesson and with this lesson I learned even more about their contrasting personalities. The first one is as sweet as a little girl can get. She talks to me, but still listens. She needs me to explain things but tries to understand them even if it's strange. She takes a little longer to get a hang of some of the concepts and notes whereas her sister, if she tries, understands them within three minutes. The sister has a much more fiery personality. From what I can gather and how she acts, she hates piano lessons. Near the beginning she was understanding what I asked her to learn with little difficulty because she put effort into it, but now she's growing tired of putting in that needed effort. She's not having much fun anymore which makes my job harder because now I need to put the fun into it that she's not putting into it. What a day, what a day to take to.....everything!

One two three four, tell me that you love me more.....five six nine or ten..... That is what I sing when I need to step back and breathe. Like when people tell you to count to ten before you say anything else so you can think about what may have almost come out of your mouth. Well, I like to sing, so I sing that instead. Today there were plenty of opportunities to sing that song. But I didn't because those happenings deserved laughter instead. :) Today I cooked my dinners for the rest of the week and am so excited to eat deliciousness all week!! But with that excitement came a whole lot of mess and burning things. I burned 1/2 my bacon and 1 batch of candied almonds.... :( I had a fabulous time picking out the burnt bacon though as well as chopping and mixing another batch of almonds which then brought me great pride when I took them out of the oven not 3 seconds too soon. The Lord is stronger

People say that Satan works harder on you once you've got your mission call.  I can attest to this. BUT. The Lord also works harder WITH you once you've got your mission call.  I can attest to this even more. A lot of things happen because I'm human, make stupid decisions, let my temper get the best of me, act selfishly...etc.  Those things definitely still happen.  Satan, I feel, has been making those weaknesses more prominent in my life, it seems.  As I've realized that, I've also more fervently said my prayers and more diligently read my scriptures. That has made all the difference! This week...oh man oh man oh man.  It certainly wasn't a "hardest" week, but it was a hard week. Mostly because my own thoughts plagued judgement upon the world.  And those judgements ate away at my insides. Last night and this morning I prayed, pleading for help in this.  During my morning prayer I knew what I needed to do and that was to trust the Lord...
